Oh Boy

Connell is ALL boy. I guess that's a silly thing to say. He is a boy, afterall. Knowing this, I shouldn't have been surprised when he actually tried to climb on top of the "fort" I built in his room earlier this week. Really. Crash. Emma was napping and I was about to take a 3 minute shower. I am glad that I was only in the kitchen when I heard the crash and the cry. Poor little man. He got on the bed and attempted to climb onto the "roof" of the fort. He fell to the floor and landed on his back on a wooden puzzle box. Ouch. He, of course, got lots of TLC and a lecture. ALL boy.

Here is my boy in safe mode! ha!

Later that day...

...after the chips were all cleaned up...it got really quiet in my house. Sometimes, although quiet is nice, it's not always a good sign. But when I walked over to the kids' rooms to check it out, this is what I found. Sibling sweetness. Sigh of relief and grab the camera!

They are a MESS

Happy Monday to me!!! This is what happens when a Mommy tries to carry on a brief phone conversation with a friend. Emma gains entry to the pantry and removes 2 bags of chips. She then dumps them on the floor and eats a few. Connell sweeps them all around the floor, not really cleaning up...more just spreading greasiness around! Oh it's a good thing they are so cute...!!!

Random

woke up a little grumpy from her nap...usually she is all smiles for the camera!
laptop time
Emma and I had a lunch date with Miss Katie and baby Tanner. He is such a sweet and
precious boy!
Grandma and Grandpa came for the weekend. I am not sure why I didn't take many pictures. We had a lot of fun! Our good friends, the Millers, were also in town so we all had lunch together on Saturday (again, no pictures). Then Mom and I and Connell headed off to our friend Chloe's 4th birthday party. That night, we made dinner and watched part of a horrible Memphis basketball game. :( The best part: Emma's total cuteness in her Tiger cheerleading outfit that belongs to Taylor and Reagan. It's vintage! :)
Sunday morning we went to church and breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Then we were able to play outside for a long time since it was nearly 70 degrees! Awesome! Grandma and Grandpa headed home late in the afternoon and the kids took great naps!

Love & other sweet things

I get so excited to celebrate Valentine's Day with my sweeties! I love them everyday but it's kind of fun to spend some time talking about & celebrating that love. And now that they are getting bigger, we are able to share more about God's love and they GET IT!
Can't remember if I mentioned this in a previous post, but my Mom and I made Emma this precious little dress for vday. I wanted to get a picture of the kiddos to put on our valentine. This is never an easy task. Here's what we got:

i think this is just TOO cute! They are quite the pair! This was our choice for our valentine card! Of course I am not going to post all the reject photos! HA! Thumbs in mouths, fingers up noses, you moms know what I mean! Breakfast love...they were quite impressed. So was I. Remember, I am the "domestic disaster!" I am not sure at this point in the game that this is a "love" or a "sweet thing" but it belongs in this post anyway. We got more of this white stuff. again. It was pretty and Tim got to stay home with us so it was pretty sweet!Back in the warm house, Emma and Connell got our valentines ready for the mail. Emma was in charge of stickers. Connell was in charge of stamps. And two days later, it was nice enough for outside play. This winter weather is crazy! We had a lovely weekend together as a family. Saturday we went to a yummy lunch together (family date) to celebrate valentines and to avoid the rush on Monday! Both sets of Grandparents sent Hallmark recordable books for the kids for valentines day. We saved them until the actual day. They were so excited. They have since been wearing these books out! I wonder what kind of battery life they have?! I made some heart-shaped cupcakes for my favorite sweeties. Emma ended up with a chocolate goatee (i have NO idea how to spell that word ;) Connell takes a little longer with his cupcake, but doesn't make as big of a mess!

Love to all our Valentines!!!

Super SUPER Sunday

Before the big game, Emma wanted to show some LOVE to her Grandfathers! Plus, we didn't want to wear the Green Bay shirt all day and risk the tag getting torn off...there might be the slightest bit of superstition involved there... :)

sweet valentine :)
post-nap, getting ready for GAME TIME!
Go Green Team!
football food!
We had a blast watching the game! We were invited to 3 super bowl parties, but since we weren't sure of our plans with weekend visitors and we actually wanted to WATCH the game, we chose to stay home. We let the kids run wild and pretty much do whatever for the length of the game. Oh and they LOVED the halftime show :)
GO PACKERS!!! SO happy about the big win!

Friends and Fun!

We were so excited for the weekend to come. We had friends coming from two places to see us. Unfortunately the Millers couldn't make it due to winter :( weather. We missed them, and we are hoping to reschedule SOON! The Lees made it from GA and Connell was so happy to see Alana, or "Awana", as he calls her. before heading to meet our friends for lunch, sibling storytime.
Connell and Alana. Alana will be 3 in July. She is a cutie-patootie!

The kids all played so well together!
Me and Simone! I think the last picture we had made together was at Simone and Gary's wedding....and that was, um, quite a long time ago. :)

January Wrap-Up

It's hard to believe that the first month of 2011 has already passed. Really? Well, on to February we go, but here are some random pictures from the last week of January.

Friday night Daddy went to a concert with his brothers. Me and the kiddos ventured out to eat at our favorite spot, Blue Coast Burrito. The kids were awesome! They were so sweet with eachother. Connell likes to sit close to Emma these days and take care of her. We usually don't sit them next to eachother during dinner, but lately, they seem to do great side-by-side! After dinner, we headed to Academy Sports to shop for sports bras for Mommy...but that's another post! HA! I am sure Connell and Emma would have preferred another activity, but I have been waiting for a chance to go shop while they are at school...but since it continues to snow...well, this was my only choice. They must have had really great naps today because the good behavior continued even while we were at the store. :) Saturday, there was no snow in sight...we had a beautiful, mid-50s day! I went running that morning with Shannon and then we played outside with the kids. It was so nice to be outside and get some sun!

Just look at those precious curls...love it! Connell says that Emma has "crunchy"
hair- he means curly! :)

picnic in the playroom after church on Sunday.
