Weekend with Grandma!

Waiting for Grandma!!!
My Dad took a long Harley ride across the country last week so my Mom came to visit us! We were so excited to have her here for several days and I planned lots for us to do. She arrived Thursday night and made it just in time to go to a Kelly's Kids clothing party to help pick out some great fall stuff for our handsome little man! Friday morning we embarked on a shopping trip. This time, we were scouting dresses to wear to my cousin's wedding next month in Wisconsin. First stop, we struck gold and both found exactly what we were looking for. Connell was a great shopping buddy! We grabbed a quick lunch at the mall and Connell & Grandma went for a spin on the carousel. (That's 2 carousels in 1 week for Connell!) This one was quite a bit faster than the one at the zoo. I am kinda glad I wasn't the one riding it...

I am so excited about this dress (and that doesn't happen very often!) My hubby is soooooooo excited it's not black!!!!

After naptime, Connell & I got haircuts. It's so much easier with someone else there. Connell ran Grandma all over the place while I got my hair cut. His haircut makes him look like such a big boy! After haircuts, we met Daddy for dinner and then walked around the Indian Lake outdoor mall for a little while before bedtime. It was a long, fun productive day!

Saturday we did a little 'window' shopping at some little local shops and just played around the house. Connell's current favorite thing...his piggy bank. When you make a deposit, it plays 'twinkle twinkle little star.' Good thing Grandma had lots of change. Watch this video! He even does the sign for 'more' when he runs out of money. Maybe I should try that!!! :)

Saturday night, Tim and I got to go to dinner with our friends at one of our favorite restaurants. We enjoyed it so much! It was a great date night for us! According to Grandma, Connell was PERFECT!!!! Sunday we went to church and played more until it was time for Grandma to leave in the afternoon. We had a great weekend! Thanks Mom!!! We missed you Grandpa, but we are glad you had fun and made it home safely!

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match!

Ok, just on a side note to my post of Connell and Chloe on a date. Heather (Chloe's sweet Mommy) and I joke around all the time about our children dating later in life (MUCH LATER!!!). I posted a picture a few weeks ago of Connell wearing his cute little whale outfit, and look what Heather sent me...Too cute not to share!

Fun on the Lake!

Sunday we went on the lake with the Roses to watch a friend in a wakeboard competition. This was really Connell's first 'long' day on the boat. He's really only been out to watch fireworks and go to breakfast. (There is a marina on the lake that serves breakfast on the weekends.) He did great! Not much of a morning nap (only 20 minutes) but he was a trooper! We made it in by mid afternoon so he could take a good long nap! Thanks to the Roses for taking us out, and the Jacobs for bringing us back!

Date Night with Chloe

After eating some mexican food, Heather and I decided to take the kiddos on date night. We went to do a little shopping. This is a picture of Connell & Chloe in Gymboree while the mommies were shopping. They are watching a movie (and eachother!)

Chloe modeling a fancy pink cowgirl hat! Connell had one too (not pink, Tim, brown) but of course, he wouldn't keep it on long enough for a picture!

The Zoo!

Meme and Papa came in town to visit and we made a trip to the Nashville Zoo. This was our first time there, and while it's not as awesome as the Memphis Zoo, it was very nice! Connell enjoyed it; he gets excited and squeals and points whenever he sees an animal. This is true both at the zoo, and when we walk in the neightborhood and see dogs, cats, or play with our neighbors dogs. He was also very interested in 'people' watching, which he probably gets from his mother! We will definitely be frequent visitors of the ZOO!!!

Squealing & pointing!

More squealing & pointing!

"Can I get in there?"

"Please can I get in?"

Just plain cute...

This is a fun age. I know I don't have much to compare to, and I have enjoyed every stage so far with Connell, but this is FUN! It's fun to listen to his language (!). It's cool to watch how much he is understanding and comprehending. It's just FUN!!!

I have started doing a little bit of work (medical data entry) from home again. I haven't done any since May so it took a minute to put that very tiny part of my brain back to work. But it's good, and it's a blessing, as it provides a little extra cashola. I am trying to keep it around 10 hours a week right now, primarily while Connell sleeps.

Here are some pictures from the past week...just silly fun!

Connell and his new friend. He dances and sings "itsy bitsy spider."

"I ate my whole blueberry muffin!"

Showing some skin...

We finally found a float that Connell will stay in for longer than 5 minutes. And we've had it all along; I bought it on clearance at the end of last summer for $2. Wish we would have tried it earlier in the summer!

Praying...

Tonight, as we were about to sit down to enjoy the wonderful dinner I prepared (I am trying to cook more!) we began our dinnertime prayer just like always. This time, Connell held his little hands together just like Mommy and Daddy were doing. He smiled. I cried. Enough said.

Training!

I like to reminisce...

A year ago today, we were celebrating Connell's baptism with our family and friends. I just enjoy looking at pictures so much. That's probably why I take so many. :) Just wanted to share! (by the way, I had to look up the spelling of reminisce. What has mommy-hood done to my brain!?!)

A Yummy Teething Toy!

Connell was very interested in the corn on the cob Tim and I were eating for dinner tonight (expertly prepared on the grill by our own Daddy!). So why not give him a taste! Check out this video!
