waiting on the doctor This is a picture of Connell writing his name on his birthday thank you notes. Right around his 4th birthday, we tried writing his name one day. I was so surprised at how well he already was doing and after we worked on it a little bit...he is good to go! Bless his heart, he got LOTS of practice on his 25 notes! He signed each and every one! It took about a week but he was so proud when he was finished. This summer, we are doing a "Letter of the Day" each day. There are ABC cards in a jar, he picks a random letter, and we practice writing it and learning the sound it makes. A lot of this is a review from preschool, but we are now focused on writing the letters and he's doing really well.
Two funny Connell stories that took place around his birthday...
1) Connell finished 8 weeks of swimming lessons right around the beginning of May. His teacher Mrs. Bev did such a great job with him. Connell really liked her, too. At one of our last MOPS meetings in May, Connell's class learned about how Jesus walked on water. On the way home I asked Connell about his day to which he responded, "Jesus walked on water and so does Mrs. Bev!"
2) We have the bug for a new house. Well, not totally. I looooove our house. It's our first and only house. We built it and we love it. We brought 2 babies home to this house. AND, I am not necessarily in the mood to be trying to sell a house that is inhabited by a 4 and almost 2 year old. Really? (I could go on, but that should be another post). Anyway, we recently walked through a model home that we are completely obsessed with...AWESOME house! Connell and Emma were crazy running around and exploring. There was a bedroom all decorated upstairs for a boy. Well recently Connell is finally starting to move away from his daily nap. One day recently, I went into his room and asked why he wasn't sleeping since he is tired. He answered very matter-of-factly: "Well, Mommy, the truth is, if we move to that new house, I will take a nap in that room upstairs. Ok?"
Connell is a silly, tenderhearted, smart, sweet and WILD boy! He brings a HUGE amount of spirit to our lives and we are so blessed that he is our son. I just can't believe it's been 4 years since I first held that peanut!
